International Partnership

For many years, the activity of the Lublin University of Technology has been focused on the internationalization of scientists' achievements and didactic activities in full symbiosis with the industry environment. These goals are perfectly in line with the project implemented by the Department of Fundamentals of Production Engineering, Lublin University of Technology, entitled VET Education 4.0 for Industry 4.0. Project led by PhD. Eng. Jerzy Józwik, is a response to the challenges of industry 4.0 in the field of vocational education and training for the effective fulfilment of requirements of modern industry, as well as for sustainable competitiveness. The project involves the development of a high-quality training and vocational training program for second-cycle students. The project is aimed at increasing the availability of industrial internships for students, and at the same time improving the quality and image of the current mechanism of apprenticeship to the profession of engineer at a higher level.

Meeting of universities and industry

The educational program in the project will be consulted with partners from Norway and Poland. The partners of the project are NTNU - Norwegian University of Science and Technology, represented by Professor Yiliu Liu , CEWAR Więch represented by the president Stanisław Więch and PHM POLCOMM represented by the owner Dariusz Kozak. Due to the need to tighten cooperation between the project partners, the project provides for a series of meetings, which began in April 2022 with the departure of representatives of the Lublin University of Technology and Partner from industry to Trondheim in Norway, where NTNU is headquartered. The trip included two days of partnership talks, the merit of which was focused on the higher education system in Norway.

Norwegian patterns

The guiding principle behind NTNU is the realization of the mission of providing the Norwegian society with highly qualified engineers. It seems to be a trivial statement, but it is associated with a huge obligation and a number of system solutions. The talks focused on the recruitment and education of students in sciences. Methods of cooperation of Norwegian scientists and educators with students and industry representatives were discussed. NTNU works closely with industry and thus implements its "learning by doing" philosophy. Industry representatives suggest problems to be solved by students, in this way students participate in solving the so-called "Real life problems". All parties want active trilateral cooperation. The integration of industry with the university also takes place through the appointed council of industry advisors. This council discusses topics important for the education process, including: proposing thematic content, providing industry advice, planning guest lectures, collaborating on projects and diploma works , and organizing student seminars. This approach fits directly into the idea of Education 4.0 for Industry 4.0.

In the next stage, in June 2022 partner meetings were held in Lublin. The partners discussed the possibilities of adapting Norwegian models of student education in Polish conditions. Current problems and challenges of entrepreneurs were discussed. The methods of conducting student internships in enterprises were discussed, along with the potential for admitting students.

All the experiences gathered during the work in the project will be the starting point for creating a new training program based on the best practices of NTNU partners and entrepreneurs.
